Make A Bootable USB

In this tutorial I will show you how to make a Bootable USB through usb_prep8 to be used to install Windows Xp into Laptop without optical drive. Please read carefully the instructions given below, don't skip steps provided in the instructions. Make sure that all the steps provided are being performed or else making a bootable usb will not be successful. First of all you need to download the file usb_prep8, link are provided below.

STEPS

1. After finish downloading, extract the file name usb_prep8.zip.

2. Go to folder and find usb_prep8.cmd

3. Open by double clicking it and Press any key to continue.

4. PetoUSB should pop-up. Click Refresh and choose your USB flash drive, Leave other option and click Start and click Yes if prompt you to continue. This program will format your flash drive, so before doing it, make sure to back up important files inside the drive.

5. Again, PetoUSB will need to confirm if you want to continue formatting your USB drive. Just click Yes if you want to format your drive to continue and wait until formatting is finished.

6. After format is complete, you can now close the PetoUSB and back to usb_prep8.cmd, there are 8 options as you can see but we only perform option number 1,3 and 4.

7. Enter your choice: 1 and find your Windows XP folder. If your Windows XP installation is in ISO format, then try to extract it with Winrar. If you do not have Winrar installed then you download the program here.

8. Enter number 3 of your choice to change the USB-Drive letter of your USB flash drive. In my case my drive letter is J: so i will put J for my drive letter.

9. Enter number 4 of your choice to make new tempimage, it will prompt you to proceed format and just choose yes by typing Y and hit ENTER. Wait until process is complete and press any key to continue. If you see it again during process asking press any key to continue just do it.

10. During process, it will ask you to copy tempdrive files to USB drives. Just click Yes and wait for about 15 min. If during the process asking for confirmation just click yes.

10. Press any key to finish. You can now install Windows XP via USB in your laptop or notebook that do not have optical drive. Hope this tutorial help you solve your problem creating bootable USB.
